About Us

Hello, my name is Bruno Leal, I was born in 1982 and I'm from Terceira island. Since a surftrip back in the year 2000 I've discovered my dream destination, the north coast of São Jorge island. Later I decided to move to São Jorge island and so I bought Casa da Arcada.

I've always liked the country lifestyle and to make the most of what nature has to give. I am particularly passionate about the ocean and I love to surf, fish and sail. So I found that São Jorge island is the perfect place for me.

I manage Casa da Arcada along with my girlfriend and our goal is to provide our guests the opportunity of enjoying this place as much as we do.

Our guests satisfaction is our number 1 priority!

GETTING HERE

Flights

São Jorge island receives flights from other islands on a daily basis operated by SATA Air Azores. Due to the small dimensions of the airport, São Jorge does not have direct flights from mainland Portugal and other countries. However, you can fly to one of the Azores main gateways (Santa Maria, Ponta Delgada, Terceira, Pico or Horta) and get a FREE connecting flight to São Jorge.
Click the button below to know more.
This model also applies for low cost companies like Ryanair and Easyjet flying to Ponta Delgada.
Already in São Jorge?

Once in São Jorge it's easy to get here. If you are driving from Velas or Calheta Towns or from the Airport follow a sign that indicates "Nortes" or "Norte Pequeno". Head to the parish of Norte Pequeno, once there you shall see a sign indicating "Fajã dos Cubres" as shown in the picture below. Fajã dos Cubres is about a 30 minutes drive from Velas and 15 minutes from Calheta. As an alternative, you can get here by hiking the Serra do Topo Trail, in that case head to Serra do Topo, the entrance for the trail is near the windmill park.
Ferry Boats

During summer, the Azores have regular ferry boats operated by Atlânticoline that connect all the islands. In the case of São Jorge there are regular boat connections all year round because São Jorge is part of the "Azores Triangle" alongside with Pico and Faial islands. It's called "The Triangle" due to the proximity between the 3 islands. This translates in easiness in traveling between these islands in any season. Faial and Pico have regular flights from mainland Portugal, so a good alternative of getting here is to fly to one of these islands and then catch a ferry boat to São Jorge.
Visit the Atlânticoline website in the button bellow for more information.
